Refugee inclusion
Refugee and migrant inclusion requires a specific set of tools and approaches. With principles based on intergroup contact theory and cross-cutting concerns around trauma informed responses and wrap-around services, The Sports Effect can offer crucial services and insights into how to deliver inclusive and empowering programmes.
The Sports Effect follows academic social mixing theory (Allport:1954) as well as experience gained in multiple refugee and migrant contexts (M.East, Asia, E.Africa, W. and E.Europe).
Principles for effective Refugee Inclusion (Tropp & Pettigrew:2006) include:
- Frequent and Sustained Contact over time
- Equal status during contact
- Active Engagement towards a Common Goal
- Intergroup Cooperation
- Support of Community leaders and Institutional Authorities Find out more, contact us.
